It has been a busy few weeks with the announcement of several new audio products! Dan Clark Audio just recently announced a brand new flagship headphone called the Stealth. It promises to be the most resolving of all DCA headphones with a very even neutral audiophile tuning. Based around the Aeon teardrop shape the Stealth has been completely redesigned with brand new Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System (AMTS) technology and a driver never seen or heard in a headphone so far. Another headphone that was recently announced was from our friends at Apos Audio. Our friends at Matrix Audio also recently announced what I think will be very well received by many! The Matrix Audio X Sabre Pro 3. I am really looking forward to getting this in for review to compare audibly as well as functionally to my other Matrix Audio products. On paper, it looks to be pretty amazing.

Many of you that follow my YouTube channel or are part of my Patreon members-only Discord MR HiFi Hangout, know that I am a big fan of Matrix Audio products and currently have 3 of their all-in-one Digital Analog Converters, Headphone Amplifiers, Streamers in house. The flagship all in one Matrix Audio Element X which is currently in my 2.1 Channel setup streaming Roon as well as feeding a couple of headphone amplifiers in that room.

The Matrix Audio Element M which is currently in my office, my main headphone listening area. The Element M has also paired as a DAC/Streamer with the Burson Soloist 3X Performance all class A headphone amplifier.

Lastly I also have the Matrix mini-i Pro 3 / mini-i 3 Wireless Bluetooth DAC/Amp that I have paired up with the iFi Pro-iCAN. This pair travels between a couple of rooms. Currently being utilized in my office setup, and at times as a bedside stack, or living room headphone listening chair setup. The iFi Pro iCAN and the Matrix mini-i Pro 3 stack perfectly as far as size and in my opinion are a great pairing audibly.

All three of these units are Roon Ready working very well streaming with Qobuz and Tidal. They sound very detailed without sounding fatiguing. I enjoy the space between notes and staging each of these units provides. I also prefer the sound of the Matrix Units for their ability to provide excellent sound quality without coloring the sound. This allows me to really hear what headphones and amplifiers are doing to the sound. The built-in Amps are not as dynamic sounding as many stand-alone headphone amplifiers which is why I usually pair them with higher quality headphone amplifiers. However, they sound very good as stand-alone units paired with all the Focal Headphones I have in the house currently the Stellia, Clear MG, Celestee, and Focal Radiance. Stay tuned for full reviews and comparisons. So more efficient headphones and iem’s could be a great match with the built-in headphone amplifiers of the Matrix Audio all in one units, depending on your preferences.
It will be interesting to see what the coming weeks will bring as far as new announcements! With CanJam right around the corner, will we see a new Audeze Flagship?
